Summer is right around the corner. The management team at Spanky’s Kitchen is very excited about the road ahead. Recently we all met in Philadelphia to review our progress year to date. Good stuff! We are now in stock at select Fairway Markets and the Westside Market, as well as finalizing distribution with a NY Metro foodservice bakery distributor that will be getting our products into the Retail operations at some local financial institutions and Colleges & Universities.

In Philadelphia we retained the services of an experienced marketer to help us better understand and plan our company’s future. Our team reviewed some research and learned two things:

  • Trends indicate that plant-based foods are beginning to become very popular either as a substitute for protein or as a healthier snack option. Consequently by positioning Spanky’s current line of bakery products as plant-based, we will appeal to a broader audience than just vegans. We will also appeal to vegetarians and flexitarians, consumers that eat vegan/vegetarian products on a given occasion for health or environmental reasons (e.g., sustainable foods).
  • Given we are a relatively young company with limited marketing budgets, in order to reach a broader audience; our team recognizes that we need to step up our social media movement. A review of some social media statistics clearly indicates that blogging and utilizing Twitter will help us build awareness and drive traffic to our website.

In closing, we have decided to launch Spanky’s Korner, an informative blog that will address the latest trends in plant-based foods and snacks given our current product line. In addition, our Executive Chef will share some of his culinary secrets. Welcome to Spanky’s Korner.
