Vegan appetizer recipes.

Whether you are planning a party or special dinner for guests, keeping a few vegan appetizer recipes on hand will make your party or dinner planning much simpler. Best of all, there are many vegan appetizers that most people won’t realize are designed specifically to be vegan.



Salads are always a great dinner appetizer and naturally tend to be vegan in origin to begin with. Try something as simple as a small tossed garden salad, with an oil and vinegar dressing and your appetizer will be will be all set and ready to go.


Quick Hummus Crostini Appetizers

If you are looking for some quick vegan appetizers recipes, why not a simple Hummus on Crostini? You can serve the crostini with just humus on top, or add a bit of color and interest by using a mixture of finely diced tomatoes, onions and cucumbers tossed in a bit of italian dressing to top off the humus.The recipe for this is quite simple.


  •       1 Loaf of french bread cut in slices about 1/2” thick
  •       You can purchase all ready prepared humus (or if you prefer make your own)
  •       1 or 2 large fresh and ripe tomatoes diced small
  •       1 medium size onion diced small, (green onions will add a bit more color)
  •       1 large cucumber diced small
  •       1 to 2 tablespoons of Italian Dressing
  •       Olive oil


  •       In a mixing bowl combine tomatoes, cucumbers and onions
  •       Add one or two tablespoon(s) of Italian seasonings and mix well
  •       Place in refrigerator for an hour or two mixing occasionally
  •       Preheat oven to broil at 425 degrees Fahrenheit. (Wait until the tomato mixture has had time to cool sufficiently.)
  •       Place your slices of French bread on a cookie sheet and using a pastry brush brush a little olive oil over each slice.
  •       Place in broiler for about 8 minutes or until golden and crispy
  •       After the french bread is toasted and crispy, spread a generous helping of hummus on top
  •       Place on serving tray
  •       Remove tomato mixture from the refrigerator and drain off excess liquid seasoning.
  •       Place a small spoonful of mixture into the center of each crostini and serve.


Stuffed Mushrooms

Another of the great vegan appetizer recipes that no one would even guess is designed especially for vegan is this wonderful stuffed mushroom recipe.


It is best to prepare the mushrooms and stuffing ahead of time, but to wait to fill the mushroom and bake until the last minute.

  •       18 to 24 button Mushroom
  •       1 Tablespoon of finely chopped onions
  •       1 large garlic clove finely minced
  •       2 teaspoons parsley
  •       1 teaspoon dried thyme
  •       2 tablespoons bread crumbs
  •       Vegetable broth (3 to 4 tablespoons)
  •       2 tablespoons olive oil


  •       Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  •       Clean mushroom and remove and finely chop the stems
  •       In a small frying pan place in olive oil and heat over medium high heat
  •       Add onions and Mushrooms stems
  •       Saute Onions and mushroom for 4 to 5 minutes stirring often add garlic and salt and cook an additional 2 minutes.
  •       Turn off heat and add parsley thyme and bread crumbs to the mixture and combined well.
  •       Place Vegetable broth into food processor starting with 2 tablespoons, pulse until mixture is well mixed and pudding like, adding more broth if needed.
  •       Arrange mushrooms on a cookie sheet or baking tray, stuff and place in the oven
  •       Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 14 minutes or until stuffing is slightly dry on top and mushrooms are brown.
  •       Place on serving tray and serve immediately.
