Vegan Grocery List Guide

Good grocery shopping lists are essential for healthy vegans, and especially new vegans.

And we have all been there..Making the switch to veganism can be tough..and knowing what to buy is confusing at first.

But, it doesn’t have to be anymore!

We have put together a grocery list of vegan staples for you.

Now, next time you go food shopping, you can go prepared with some of these vegan grocery list staples on your list.

 

Vegan Dairy Alternatives

Alternative milks: soy, almond, rice, hemp, or coconut milk.

Vegan Butter spread: Flax seed oil, onion butter, coconut oil, sesame oil, carrot butter, squash butter, and carrot cashew butter

Dairy­free cheese: The list could go on and on. There are numerous vegan cheeses offered today including slices, wedges, shreds and spreads! Daiya is one of our favorite brands and can be found in your local grocery store.

Sour cream: Tofutti, or plain unsweetened soy yogurt.

Yogurt: coconut milk yogurt, almond milk yogurt, or soy yogurt.

 

Vegan Protein

Tofu, tempeh, seitan, tofurkey, beans, nuts and nut butters, seeds, lentils, chickpeas, and edamame.

 

Grains

Quinoa, brown rice, steel-­cut oats, whole grain grits, whole-wheat couscous, multigrain pasta, sprouted bread, tortillas, pita, or naan.

 

Cooking

Dried mushrooms, tomato paste, sun ­dried tomatoes, miso paste, nutritional yeast, agar agar, vegetable broth, vegetable bouillon, and capers.

 

Baking

Ener­G Egg Replacer, chia seeds, flax seeds, vital wheat gluten, agave syrup, maple syrup, blackstrap molasses, and coconut oil.

 

Condiments

Vegenaise, sriracha, tahini, harissa, kimchi, sauerkraut, ketchup, and most mustard brands and BBQ sauce brands.

 

These vegan foods and alternatives are great to know, or at least have have a list of when your out food shopping. Keeping several vegan staples in the house will make things much easier when your tummy starts grumbling!
